Apple had this to say about 'Five Years of the App Store':

"From the 500 apps available at launch in 2008 to the more than 900,000 at your fingertips today, it's been a remarkably prolific five years for the App Store. To celebrate, we're giving everyone five landmark games and five groundbreaking apps for a limited time. Plus, look back at the key moments that have made the App Store the world's most innovative destination for apps."

In only five years the App Store has played a significant role reshaping the worlds of computing and videogames, and in the process the App Store and iOS ecosystem has created countless opportunities for App developers and videogame-makers like us.
.
At the start of our videogame project our creative goal was to create something fresh and elegant that would feel at home on Apple's beautiful touch machines. We wanted to create a relaxed, musical experience that would encourage people to listen, be playful, explore and be surprised. In spring 2011, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP launched for iPhone and iPad, and it quickly connected with a broad, enthusiastic audience. It was a beautiful moment for everyone involved!
.
The App Store has changed many lives for the better and we're grateful it exists. Now, five years since the launch of the App Store and two years since our project appeared there, we're pretty excited about this golden opportunity to thank Apple and the App Store folks by connecting our strange handcrafted little adventure with an even broader audience.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP was created by three creative entities: Superbrothers, Capy and composer Jim Guthrie. The core team consisted of about five people. Production occurred from late 2009 to iOS launch in early 2011. The project has since been released on PC, Mac & Linux as well as Android. The project launched in Japan in June 2012 thanks to the Tokyo-headquartered firm 8-4. For more about this project please take a look at our ABOUT page.
